Frequently Asked Questions

If you are having difficulty finding the information you need, please read the questions and answers below.

How can I visit an inmate?

Inmates are eligible for visitation twice a week, depending on cell location and availability of visitation slots.  Some inmates may be eligible for a third visit based on good behavior.

They must request a visitation time through a deputy.  Inmates are assigned a visitation time that lasts 15 minutes.

*However, if an inmate is on restriction, his/her visitation time slot may be taken from him/her*

Who can visit an inmate?

Children under the age of 18 may visit inmates only with the permission of their parent or guardian or pursuant to a valid court order.  All children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.  Maximum of 3 persons are allowed to visit an inmate at one time.  Anyone determined to be disorderly or causing a disturbance will be asked to leave the facility and may be prohibited from visiting in the future.

How do I find out when I can visit an inmate?

Inmates should inform their visitor of the scheduled visit time.  Visit times will not be given out over the phone by Campbell County Detention Center staff.  It is the inmate's responsibility to inform his/her visitors.  If the inmate moves from the cell in which they are signed up for visitation, their visitation slot is automatically cancelled.

Exception: If the inmate moves from a cell to a dorm, their visit time will follow them to the dorm.

Visitation times are also listed on this website under Information and Public Visitation.

What can I bring an inmate when I come to visit?

The only property permitted to be left for an inmate is as follows:

  • Soft back Bible in original packaging with receipt
  • Prescribed medications (that have been approved by the Campbell County Detention Center Medical Department prior to being dropped off)
  • Books may be donated to the Detention Center.  They may be specified for a particular inmate to read first, but if left for the inmate, the book(s) become the property of the Detention Center. Donated books deemed inappropriate will be discarded. You will not be contacted to retrive the inappropriate book. Limit of 2 books per week per inmate.  Books can be dropped off on Saturday and Sunday only.
Can an inmate buy things while in jail?

Yes. Inmates may purchase items on the commissary.

Cash and credit cards are now accepted.  A Cashier machine is located in our main lobby.  Family and friends may add money directly to the inmate's account.  A fee for this service does apply.  This machine is available to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
